Getting to know Jasmine Riviera
Mosaic alumna and former Mosaic Assistant Director of Acting and Outreach Education Coordinator
“My time in Mosaic had a huge positive impact on my life, giving me the confidence to develop myself as a young artist whose voice mattered. The expectations that we do our best, that the quality of our work be professional and that we have a supportive atmosphere to explore our talents was key to providing a safe haven where, as a teenager, I could be myself without fear yet strive for excellence. As a disabled teenager, the expectation that I could contribute as much as my peers was invaluable. This kind of space was essential for creating bonds of friendship that have lasted for decades and began a journey of artistic development that has continued into my adult years. I want more young artists to have a similar experience in their lives, a hope that has influenced my work as a teacher, artist and activist.”
