New Voices: Detroit

Creating pathways for the next generation of prolific storytellers, Mosaic’s New Voices: Detroit empowers Detroit-area youth to be the authors of new narratives. Youth submit concepts for short plays or vocal ensemble compositions for an opportunity to be paired with a professional mentor who helps them cultivate the skills needed to move from ideation to actualization.

Youth whose work is showcased receive a cash prize. NVD gives youth an opportunity to explore art centered off-stage careers and develop skills to turn their ideas into original works of art; telling the stories that are important to them; amplifying new voices and supporting efforts to diversify the fields of playwriting, choral composition and performance.

There is still time to Join the Journey!

Mosaic is welcoming youth in grades 7-12 to register for our pre-professional playwriting and composition lab in preparation for the New Voices Detroit Playwriting and Composition Competition. Have questions? Contact Dennis Ryans II, Programs Manager, at dryans@mosaicdetroit.org or register below.
