Q&A with Paige Gilbert
Q: What brought you to Mosaic?
A: My God sister Ciarah Mosley was in the ensemble, and I looked up to her. We always acted together at home, so I just had to follow her path!
Q: What’s the most impactful thing you learned/gained from participating in Mosaic?
A: Be kind because you never know what others are going through. Mosaic created such a family dynamic that even while creating art, we shared stories and points of view that allowed me to never judge a book my it’s cover or make up narratives about others without checking in and asking what their story is.
Q: What are you up to now? Is there anything about your Mosaic experience you carry with you in your work? In life?
A: I’m currently working on Beneatha in “A Raisin In The Sun” at The Public Theater. Mosaic is the foundation of my acting career. My work ethic, community building skills, focus, and creativity were all formed during my time in Mosaic. I carry it all.
Q: What, if any, difference/impact has Mosaic made in Detroit? In the world?
A: Mosaic has created a huge impact in Detroit. It is the center of artistic expression for Detroit Youth. It has maintained a standard and reputation that ripples throughout the world.
Q: Please finish the phrase “Mosaic is…”
A: …a life saver.
