DeLa & Jarrai

Getting to know DeLashea Strawder

DeLashea Strawder has been involved in leadership roles at Mosaic Youth Theatre for almost 15 years and has served as its CEO since 2019. But prior any of that, she was a Mosaic Young Artist herself!

She was initially drawn to Mosaic to explore different genres of music, and for the opportunity to make music and create with other young people who were equally passionate about art. During her time as a Young Artist, she honed her skills and also got to see the power of the arts first-hand.

“As a Mosaic Singer we were consistently reminded that everyone holds the power to make a difference and contribute to a more just and beautiful world,” DeLashea wrote. “This principle extended beyond the stage to influence our personal and collective journeys. The most impactful lesson I continue to carry with me is that leadership isn’t limited to titles; it’s a responsibility for all, irrespective of our positions. The concept of ‘leading from any seat’ challenges traditional notions of leadership. It emphasizes embracing our unique voices and gifts as instruments to wield light, ignite hope and create change.”

Getting to know Jarai Strawder

Jarai Strawder is a Young Artist who has been active in Mosaic Youth Theatre for many years. Greater confidence and leadership are two areas of growth Jarai attributes to his time with Mosaic. Recent college tours have opened his eyes to new possibilities for what his future holds.

“Mosaic is my second home and family, a safe place for me to express my feelings and learn more about my craft,” he noted “It’s a community where we can work together.”
