Education
Students who participate in arts are 30% more likely than non-arts students to earn a college degree by age 30.
Across 30+ years 95% of mosaic ensemble members graduate high school on time and go on to college. Since 2019 Mosaic akums have maintained a 74% college persistence rate
Well-Being
(social-emotional health, leadership development)
Depression among adolescents has more than doubled since 2010, rising across every region in America. Young people in crisis say arts engagement—music, writing, visual and performing arts—is one of six essential resources they need to cope with mental health challenges.
Mosaic youth artists report major gains in goal-setting, emotional regulation, leadership, self-confidence, and cultural pride — with improvements of up to 91%.
Economic Mobility
While employers search for candidates with strong communication, creative problem-solving, and teamwork skills, nationally arts programs where young people develop them, are being cut—creating a workforce gap we can’t afford.
20% more likely to have gainful employment. 83.8% of college going alumni have either graduated or remain enrolled. Mosaic alumni are sought after and excel on stage and in life: 4 Kresge Fellows, 3 Grammy winners, 2 Emmy nominees, and 2 Tony Award winners. Offstage, they lead in law, education, medicine, tech, and more.
Community Vitality
Arts participation builds engaged citizens who volunteer, vote and drives economic growth, attracting talent and creating jobs that make cities competitive.
The arts make young adults more civically engaged. Young adults who have arts-rich experiences are 4 out of 5x more likely to vote and 2x as likely to volunteer in their community. 98% of Mosaic’s young artists participate in our annual day of service. Over 15,000 youth have participated in Mosaic programs and each year. Mosaic does 40+ community & regional performances annually reaching more than 10,000 community members.
