Creating pathways for the next generation of prolific storytellers, Mosaic’s New Voices: Detroit empowers Detroit-area youth to be the authors of new narratives. Youth submit concepts for short plays or songs for an opportunity to be paired with a professional mentor who helps them cultivate the skills needed to move from ideation to actualization. Youth whose work is showcased receive a cash prize.
New Voices Detroit gives youth opportunities to:
- Explore off-stage creative careers
- Develop skills to turn their ideas into original works of art
- Tell the stories that are important to them and
- Amplify new voices
- Build new audiences for arts and culture
- Diversify the fields of playwriting, choral composition, and performance.

Thank YOU for making last year’s New Voices: Detroit a success!
We are so humbled by the resounding support our community gave to the New Voices: Detroit event that took place on August 12. Our young artists did an incredible job of performing for a packed house at the Detroit Public Theatre, and their artistry and passion shone through with a beautiful light.
This evening could not have been possible without the generous support of our amazing partners. THANK YOU for believing in our work and for investing in the futures of these young artists!
