Cornell Batie

Board Chair - Founder/Principal The Balancing Act

C. Garrett Batie is a strategic leader; lifestyle and organization development professional with 25 progressive years of leveraging leadership talent in operations, finance, and procurement; and 30 years of experience in helping individuals achieve personal goals.
Cornell is a native Detroiter who holds two undergraduate degrees in Management and Accounting from the University of Detroit Mercy, and a Masters of Business Administration in Finance and International Business from Wayne State University.
During his tenure with the Detroit Jazz Festival, the largest free jazz festival in the world, he developed and implemented strategies for sustainable growth that saved the DJF tens of thousands of dollars annually.
His ability to understand company missions, identify key stakeholders, navigate through silos, and deliver results gained him the Spirit of Detroit and Crain’s CFO of the Year award. Other award recognitions include State of Michigan Special Tribute and Michigan Chronicle’s Men of Excellence.

Chris Sheeren

Vice-Chair and Treasurer Longhouse Partners, LLC

Chris has over 26 years of business experience in mergers & acquisitions, turnaround consulting, public accounting, and sales. In 2018, he co-founded Longhouse Partners, a private equity firm making investments in lower-middle market companies throughout the U.S. Previously, he spent 13 years at Huron Capital Partners, and has also worked with Conway McKenzie, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and Revlon. He has a B.A. in English and Speech Communications from the University of Nebraska, and an M.B.A. from the University of Michigan, and is a former CPA.

Gabe Doss

Secretary - Digital Marketing and Advertising, Google

Gabe Doss is a native Detroiter, former educator, and a Mosaic Alum. In his professional life he is an Automation PM for Google Ads and the Community Engagement lead for the Ann Arbor region. He has served on the board for six years and continues to celebrate the arts with his family and community.

Gerald A. Ashby, Jr.

Senior Human Resources Business Partner, ADP

Gerald comes to us as a new board member with personal experience in the arts from elementary school to present participating in Prism Men’s Chorus and Grosse Pointe Community Theatre. Professionally, Gerald works with ADP as a Sr. Human Resources Business Partner providing employment law consultation and human capital management for businesses in SE Michigan and Northern OH. Gerald is also an Entrepreneur and Owner of Small Batch Ice Cream company & Ice Cream. Gerald is eager to aid Mosaic in all it endeavors and support the young artist in any way that he can.

Sjonne Badgerow

Manager, Premium & Membership Development Detroit Pistons

Sjonne is an experienced Membership Development Manager with a demonstrated history of working in the sports industry. Skilled in Sales, Invoice Processing, Operational Planning, and Management. Strong community and social services professional with a Masters of Arts focused in Sports Administration from Wayne State University.

Terry W. Bonnette

Partner, Nemeth Law, PC

Terry is a graduate of Wayne State University Law School. In addition, he holds a BS in Communication from Bradley University and an MS from Illinois State University where he studied organizational communication and rhetoric. Before law school, he taught courses in argumentation, persuasion, and speech writing for both Bradley University and Eastern Michigan University where he also coached their nationally ranked speech teams. Since law school, Mr. Bonnette has practiced at Nemeth Law, PC, representing and counseling management in labor and employment law. Since January 2020, he has been co-managing partner. Mr. Bonnette is a frequent author and speaker on labor and employment law topics.

Melissa McClary Davis

Vice President of Digital Strategy, CRM and Innovation UniWorld Group, Inc.

Melissa is the Founder and CEO of Wise Digital Marketing. Melissa has established herself as a leading expert in the digital marketing industry with over 25 years of digital marketing experience with Fortune 500 companies in a diverse range of industries including Coca-Cola, AT&T, Ford, General Motors, Hallmark Cards, Lane Bryant, Best Buy, Facebook and Instagram. In her spare time, she enjoys having heated discussions on geeky, sci-fi topics with her husband, daughter, and son.

Meagan Dunn

Director, Community Outreach & Partnerships Henry Ford Health System

Meagan is the Director of Community Outreach and Partnerships at Henry Ford Health System. In addition to managing Henry Ford Health System's community investment fund, Meagan builds sustaining relationships with key community stakeholders including local and county government officials, leaders of non-profit organizations and grassroots community leaders on behalf of leaders across the health system. Meagan is also heavily involved in the health system's 300-acre community development project.

Judge Prentis Edwards, Jr.

Presiding Judge Wayne County Third Circuit Court Criminal Division

Judge Edwards was appointed to the Third Circuit Court in August of 2017. Previously, he served as the Chief Judge Pro Tem of the 36th District Court in the City of Detroit, where he was appointed in 2011. In addition to his duties on the bench, Judge Edwards is an Adjunct Professor at Wayne County Community College, teaching Introduction to Criminal Justice and at the University of Detroit Mercy Law School, teaching Criminal Procedure (Adjudications). Previously, he was a member of the State Bar of Michigan Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Committee and the Detroit Bar Association Foundation (Board of Trustees). Judge Edwards is a graduate of Renaissance High School, Michigan State University, Eli Broad School of Business, and Western Michigan University -Thomas Cooley Law School.

Diane Borgus Green, M.A., N.C.C.

Licensed Professional Counselor Henry Ford Community College

Diane Borgus Green is a Licensed Professional Counselor and works as a Counselor, LPC in the Counseling Division at Henry Ford College in Dearborn, Michigan. She is the former Associate Dean for the Counseling Division (2005 – 2012) and served on the Board of Directors for Henry Ford Health System - Detroit Campus (1999 - 2004) and is currently in her 11th year on the Mosaic Board (Secretary, Chair, Past Chair, Fund Development Committee). Diane is married to Saul A. Green and received her Master’s Degree in Career Guidance and Counseling and a Bachelor’s Degree in Music – Vocal Performance, both from the University of Michigan.

Beverly Maddox

Director Signature Events, Detroit Regional Chamber

Beverly Maddox, CMP, is director of Signature Events for the Detroit Regional Chamber and is responsible for event planning production and logistics, ranging from individualized meetings to full-scale events with up to 1,800 attendees. She has been with the Chamber since 1996 and has held several positions. Maddox is the Chamber’s liaison to the Michigan Economic Development Corp.’s Pure Michigan Business Connect program, helping to strategize and execute more than 20 events annually. Maddox is a Certified Meeting Planner (CMP) and holds a certificate of Project Management. In 2019, she was named one of Michigan Chronicle’s Women of Excellence. In 2010, she was the recipient of both the Oval award and named “Meeting Planner of the Year” by Meeting Professionals International. Maddox earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ferris State University in 1996. She, her husband, and two sons reside in Shelby Township. She is also the mother of two step-daughters.

Antwan Price

Account Manager, Comerica

Antwan Price, retail bank manager at Comerica Bank, lives to serve others using the vehicle of financial services. He is a graduate of Ashland University, majoring in business. He started his career over 20 years ago at Jackson Hewitt as a tax preparer before moving on to start his own company, A Price Accounting. He also owns and operates a landscaping company for the last 11 years. An ordained minister, he is also the Director of United Sisters of Charity, a non-profit organization that provides hot meals to poor and low-income families, building upon the legacy founded by his grandmother, Maude Batie. He and his wife, Shenita have been married for over 15 years with 3 children, Monaisha, Antwan Jr., and Aniya.

Roy Sexton

Senior Marketing Manager, Clark Hill PLC

Roy leads Clark Hill’s marketing, branding, and communications efforts, collaborating with the firm's exceptional team of marketing and business development professionals. Roy has nearly 20 years of experience in marketing, communications, business development, and strategic planning, having worked at Deloitte Consulting, Oakwood Healthcare (now Beaumont), Trott Law (formerly Trott & Trott), St. Joseph Mercy Health System, and Kerr Russell, PLC. He has been heavily involved regionally and nationally in the Legal Marketing Association as a board member, content expert, and presenter. He currently serves as treasurer elect for the Legal Marketing Association’s International Board of Directors. Roy was named a Michigan Lawyers Weekly "Unsung Legal Hero" in 2018. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Wabash College, and holds two master’s degrees: an MA in theatre from The Ohio State University and an MBA from the University of Michigan. He has been involved in numerous nonprofit boards. He is a published author with two books Reel Roy Reviews, Volumes 1 and 2.

Marty Singer

Senior Advisor, Adventureland

Dr. Singer’s experience spans business and technology leadership, public service, and academic research. For 35 years held senior management and technical positions in the telecom industry and served as PCTEL’s Chairman and CEO for over 15 years. He began his career at Bell Labs and then worked at AT&T, Tellabs, Motorola, Safco and PCTEL with focus on wireless technology and networks. Singer has been awarded (12) patents in telecommunications, served on multiple public company boards, and has written articles on public policy, corporate leadership, and technology. Currently, he serves as a Senior Advisor to Adventureland, a Broadway production company and is president of the Seller-Lehrer Family Foundation. He invests in Broadway musical productions, including Hamilton, In the Heights, Avenue Q, Rent, and West Side Story. He is active in supporting the Hamilton Education Program through the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History.

Singer holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan and a Master of Arts degree and Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from Vanderbilt University. Vanderbilt recently appointed Dr. Singer to the Graduate Research and Education Advisory Board.

He and his wife Andrea live in Northbrook, Il and New Buffalo, Mi. They have three sons, all married, and three grandchildren.

Kelli Van Buren

Dual Enrollment Faculty Wayne County Community College

Kelli is a lifelong Detroiter and educator. She has been an English teacher in the Detroit Public School system as well as Edison Schools and Cornerstone Schools. She has Served as Director of Enrollment and Student Services at Oakland Community College and Vice President of Enrollment and Marketing at Miller College in Battle Creek, MI. Currently she teaches English Literature and Research Writing at Wayne County Community College and is Manager of Visitor Services at the Detroit Historical Society. Ms. Van Buren has a passion for her community and for young people as proven by her participation on the Board of Directors for Mosaic Youth Theater of Detroit, Matrix Human Services, and the Chandler Park Academy. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Secondary English Education from Kentucky State University, and Master's and PhD in Education from Wayne State University.
