Mosaic currently is not offering any after-school programs for youth younger than 10 years old.
We will however, offer Summer Camps for 7-10 year olds again in late June 2009.

Mosaic First Stage programs introduce young artists, ages 7-19, to Mosaic's brand of high-energy, high-standards, empowering and inspiring theatre training. Young artists are required to register or audition for the entry level theatrical and vocal music training programs that are provided at multiple locations throughout Metro Detroit. Mosaic First Stage locations include YouthVille Detroit, The Osborn Art Center on Detroit's East side, the WCCCD Summer Institute, Teatro Mosaico (bilingual theatre) at COMPAS in Southwest Detroit, the Detroit-Grosse Pointe Collaborative on Detroit's Eastside, and Mosaic Summer Camps for 7-10 year olds. For many of these young people, Mosaic's First Stage programs offer the first-ever opportunity to receive theatre and vocal music training of any kind.

Training in Mosaic First Stage Programs is based on The Mosaic Model of Youth Development through the Arts, focusing on the following:

  • Professionalism
  • Artistic Training
  • Ensemble Experience

Mosaic Summer Camp

I think Mosaic is awesome! I would love to come back again because of all the things I learned and all the people I met. I loved all the hours in all the classes. I can’t tell which class I liked more. I really liked performing with the other kids and performing for the crowd made me feel really good! I think every kid in Detroit and other close cities should come to camp. I had fun and I know other kids will too!

Rebecca Hunter, Age 8

Fun, Fun, Fun

Mosaic camp is so much fun. We play a lot of games like “faint giver”, “link tag”, and “Sally, Sally”. Faint giver taught me how to be more dramatic.

I really enjoyed learning how to “step”. Our routine was exciting. All the parents liked it. I even liked learning how to behave backstage. When you are backstage you must be quiet. You do not want to distract the audience or the performers.

I am so thankful I earned a scholarship so I could attend camp. If there were more scholarships then more children could go to camp. They could have fun playing games and learning instead of watching TV.
