Mosaic Youth Ensemble

The Mosaic Youth Ensemble is the core program of Mosaic, providing nine months of free intensive education and training in acting, vocal music, and technical theatre. Each year, approximately 100 young people, ages 12-18, are chosen for the Mosaic Youth Ensemble by audition and interview. Ensemble members work with professional actors, writers, musicians and designers. Rehearsing after school and on weekends, these young artists are involved in every element of production, which include writing plays, composing music and designing and building sets. Throughout the year, Mosaic Youth Ensemble tours original performances to schools by way of Mosaic's Metro Tour presented by Henry Ford Health System. Additionally, the Mosaic Youth Ensemble presents public performances at the Detroit Film Theatre inside the Detroit Institute of Arts and the Max M. Fisher Music Center.

Mosaic Youth Ensemble members rehearse an intense 10 hours a week at minimum.

    The Ensemble Rehearsal schedule is as follows:
  • Sundays: 2:30-6:30p.m.
  • Tuesdays & Thursdays: 6-9p.m.

Intermediate Training Program

The Intermediate Training Program (ITP) works with young artists helping them to hone their skills and craft in preparation for the intensity of the Ensemble program. ITP provides mid-level theatrical and musical education and training to approximately 65 deserving young artists each year. The young artist who take part in the ITP program receive several opportunities to showcase their talents by gracing the stage during annual Mosaic Main Stage productions Woodward Wonderland and Magnificat, and Mosaic's community service program, Perform-A-Thon.

Mosaic ITP members rehearse a minimum of 6 hours per week.

    ITP schedule is as follows:
  • Mondays and Wednesdays 6-9p.m.
  • It is expected that every member attend and be on time for all rehearsals.
