Mosaic Singers
Mosaic Singers have performed in over 25 states, at The White House and The Kennedy Center. Internationally, they have represented the United States at the World Festival of Children's Theatre in Copenhagen, Denmark, performed at The Millennium Dome in London, England and participated in cultural exchanges in Dakar, Senegal and Singapore. With their collective voices raised in song, Mosaic Singers shift effortlessly from classical choral pieces, to goose bump-inducing gospel and spiritual works, to compelling contemporary tunes with a uniquely instinctive style that perfectly frames every note of every song. Consistently delivering brilliant interpretations of original and previously written works, Mosaic Singers (Quartet, Octet or Full Ensemble) are available for your corporate, private or school events. Metro Tour
Mosaic's Acting Company is proud to perform Speak for Yourself! Young Detroiters Talk about Race, a candid play about race and hope. The play imagines a future where people accept one another, not on the basis of race, but on the strength of understanding, tolerance and mutual respect. Speak For Yourself! presents a mosaic of different voices -- Arab, Asian, African, and Latin American teenagers -- engaged in an honest dialogue with the audience about racial stereotypes in Detroit. The 40-minute performance is based on the Youth Dialogues Sessions organized by the University of Michigan in the summer of 2005. The Dialogues brought together teenagers from a variety of different class, racial and ethnic backgrounds to talk about their experience growing up in Metro Detroit and how race and class as well as other socialization factors impacted their experience. Trained moderators from the University of Michigan facilitate a 15-minute post-show discussion with student audiences. Mosaic First Stage WorkshopsMosaic currently offers a workshop on Theatre Techniques for the Classroom for adults working with youth in schools, community centers or youth programs. This is a great professional development opportunity! We also offer a workshop for young people called An Introduction to the Mosaic Experience. This workshop is perfect for schools, community centers, after-school and summer programs looking to give youth in their program minimal exposure to Mosaic performing arts training.
