BRING MOSAIC TO YOU!Mosaic’s Metro Tour This season, Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit has prepared three fantastic touring performances for students in kindergartens, primary and secondary schools to experience the performing arts. From the stage direct to your school, Mosaic’s Metro Tour performances inspire students to find their own voice, tell their own stories, and imagine the role they may someday play in our community.
SPEAK FOR YOURSELF! YOUNG DETROITERS TALK ABOUT RACE40-minute performance; 20 minute talkback A candid play about race and hope, Speak for Yourself! Young Detroiters Talk about Race, presents a mosaic of different voices -- Arab, Asian, African, and Latin American teenagers -- engaged in an honest dialogue with the audience about racial stereotypes in Detroit. The play imagines a future where people accept one another, not on the basis of race, but on the strength of understanding, tolerance and mutual respect. Trained moderators from the University of Michigan facilitate a 15 – 20 minute post-show discussion with student audiences.
TALES ONCE TOLD40 minute performance Travel through time to meet heroes, heroines, giants and ordinary folk whose stories stretch across continents and centuries. From ancient Greek myth to African griot storytellers to American tall tales, Tales Once Told brings together the voices and images of different times and cultures. This animated and engaging program is filled with adventure, life-lessons and laughter. MOSAIC SINGERS10-45 minute performance With their collective voices raised in song, the Mosaic Singers shift effortlessly from Motown to Mozart and Broadway to Bach, with a unique style that’s all their own. These young artists mix things up and expose student audiences to exciting new musical forms. ![]() Mosaic First Stage WorkshopsMosaic currently offers a workshop on Theatre Techniques for the Classroom for adults working with youth in schools, community centers or youth programs.
