Mosaic Youth Theatre of Detroit, an internationally-recognized leader in Youth Development through the Arts, seeks a Director of Development.  Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Director of Development plans and executes a comprehensive development program to advance the mission of Mosaic Youth Theatre, including growth in corporate and individual gifts, annual gifts, event driven revenue, major and planned gifts, and foundation grants.  This position is responsible for all fundraising events and campaign goals.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Plan and implement all fundraising strategies in collaboration with the Executive Director and achieve fundraising goals with a concentration on growing corporate sponsorships
  • Establishes and maintains an effective pipeline and database and cultivation plan for corporate prospects and individual donors and continuously identify new funding sources
  • Oversees, manages, and implements activities/events and utilizes resources necessary to achieve revenue goals and objectives. Events to include youth performances, Annual Gala, Mosaic Mixers, and youth outreach initiatives.
  • Manage individual, corporate, foundation, and government giving
  • Continue to log and maintain engagement and activities in donor CRM database
  • Develop program/strategies to increase corporate and individual giving
  • Oversee grants management and portfolio along with leading the Development Team
  • Support marketing team with development related projects
  • Increase grant portfolio pipeline and provide leads to Grant Writer
  • Work in conjunction with Finance Manager and Development Administrator to ensure financial development data is accurate

The ideal candidate must be a strong leader and have an ambitious, goal driven mentality to achieve excellent results. In addition, the candidate should have:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience
  • 3 – 5 years of experience in nonprofit development/fundraising  or outside sales with a track record for generating new and return support through individual donors, corporate sponsorships, and foundations
  • Strong leadership and relationship building skills and ability to use these skills to positively build a powerful fundraising program and a cohesive and motivated team.
  • Knowledgeable in donor retention strategies and practices a donor-centric approach
  • Must be self-starting and self-directed, organized, have the ability to work independently and within a team
  • Experienced in leading, recruiting and engaging high level volunteers to serve on planning and revenue committees
  • Blackbaud, Eventbrite, PayPal experience preferred, or experience working with a similar donor CRM databases
  • Passion for supporting youth development and the arts in Metro Detroit.
